9 foodie hotspots in Canggu Bali

June 23, 2017

I'm back in Bali and I have to say, June is an awesome time to be here. The temperature is just right, 27-29 degrees Celcius for the most part and cool breezes in the afternoon/evening.

I know I wrote a whole blog before on places to eat around Canggu but of course, I changed websites so it all got wiped off the face of the Internet so here is my new list:

1. Milk & Madu & Nalu Bowls

Address: Jl. Pantai Berawa No.52, Tibubeneng, Canggu

Accepts Cash/Credit card: Cash only for Nalu Bowls, credit card for Milk & Madu

A/C: no

Wifi: yes

My go-to breakfast spot. Catering to gluten free, vegan, and everything in between, I think Milk & Madu have the best strong lattes and smashed avo on toast, hands down.

2. Ulekan

Address: 34 Jl Tegel Sari, Pantai Berawa, Canggu

Accept cash/credit card: both

A/C: no

Wifi: unsure

Good, clean, traditional Indonesian food. Easily one of the best nasi gorengs. Lunch offers an array of different dishes, a good way to try dishes you aren't familiar with. The Nasi Campur plate is high on my list! Their welcome drink is also amazing (lemongrass tea).

There are a lot of sharing tables/benches and every corner is photo-worthy!

Dinners offer a larger menu. This is owned by the same wonderful people at Milk & Madu as well as Watercress Cafe.

They offer Balinese coffee, slow-dripped and from various regions of Indonesia. Julian Flores is a personal favorite.

3. The Lawn

Address: Kuta Utara, Canggu

Accepts cash/credit card: both

A/C: no

Wifi: yes

Great sunset spot, good cocktails, awesome vibes. It's not the hectic Finns Beach club or Ku De Ta vibe but it's chilled out, 'the lawn' is now fake grass enabling it to operate pretty much any time (and not get slushy mudded out). Since its opening late 2015, it now has an infinity pool, a pool bar which you can swim up to, day beds (minimum spend 1 million rupiah), lawn mats with Balinese umbrellas, lounge tables for dining and high bar tops.

4. Moana

Address: Jalan Raya Batu Bolong No.28, Canggu

Accepts cash/credit card: both

A/C: no

Wifi: yes

Straight up, amazing fresh fish in a Polynesian style. This place gets packed out around 7pm onwards so either call up for a reservation or get in around 6:30pm and leave before 8pm.

My recommendations are Moana Mahi-Mahi, the sugarcane mixed juice (includes mint and tumeric) and the Bora Bora Poisson Cru, Vairao Curry ... actually everything is amazing! Eat it all!

5. Quince

Address: No., Jl. Pantai Berawa No.51, Tibubeneng, Canggu

Accepts cash/credit card: both

A/C: no

Wifi: yes

Let these pictures speak for themselves <3

What can i say? This place is green, green green and SO fresh! mint, coriander, limes, SO GOOD!!! Thai and Vietnamese fusion food, fresh salads and awesome breakfasts. Run by a couple originally from Melbourne, they have cute homeware and ceramics for purchase as well. Understated and real.

6. Nude Cafe

Address: Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Canggu

Accepts cash/credit card: both.

A/C: yes in one section.

Wifi: yes

A popular spot that overlooks rice fields, popular amongst the digital nomads particularly in the air conditioned area with power units.

My favorites here include the zucchini spaghetti and all their juices (immune booster FTW!).

The coffee art artist is next level! 100% Instagram worthy!

7. Finns Beach Club

Address: Jl. Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng, Kuta Utara, Tibubeneng, Canggu

Accepts cash/credit card: yes

A/C: no, it's all outdoors

Wifi: yes

The entrance will draw you in, mixing modern architecture with traditional structures held together by bamboo. Stretching a huge beach front, Finns Beach Club is a great sunset spot (but also breakfast is nice and quiet with an incredible view). Day beds are 1 million rupiah minimum spend in peak hours. There is a pool, pool bar and great service. Day beds and booths litter across the space of Finns and if you are after a private function area, their upstairs section is great too!

The cocktails are on the stronger side. Food is great. Expect to pay around 120K+ for a cocktail.

8. One Eyed Jack

Address:

Accepts cash/credit card: both

A/C: yes

Wifi: unsure

Just up the road from Finns (walking distance), you'll find One Eyed Jack.

Good fresh Japanese if you're after sashimi but it's a twist - it's not the traditional simplicity of fish - it's a fusion with sauces, dressings, and everything in between. Great to share plates and try multiple dishes. They also stock amazing mochi and ice cream so save space for dessert :)
